Melissa was born July 17th 1964 in Fitchburg, MA to Pete Mina Sr. and the late Carol Mina (Pelton). She was a devoted wife to Tom Starkey for 25 years and a loving mother to Jeffrey Benedict and Sarah Danevich, husband David. Melissa’s greatest pride and joy was her granddaughter, Penelope Danevich, who brightened her days and filled her heart with love and life. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Deborah Mina, Peter Mina Jr., and Cheryl Dias (Mina), with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Melissa was a talented cook and enthusiastic host who took great pleasure in bringing family and friends together. In her last 13 years she spent many hours making her Melbourne, FL home into a haven of warmth and laughter, where delicious meals and cherished memories were created. She loved to gather loved ones around her table, sharing not only her culinary delights but also her vibrant spirit and infectious love for life.
An avid Yankees fan, Melissa spent countless hours cheering on her team, her passion for baseball reflecting her spirited personality. Whether celebrating a victory or commiserating a loss, her love for the game was a testament to her unwavering enthusiasm for life’s joys.
Melissa was deeply committed to her communities, engaging with various groups through the years that enriched her life and the lives of those around her.
