Melissa's obituary
Born in Munich, Germany, on a military base to James R. Holbrooks and Lynda Tyson, Melissa was described as a “Tomboy” with a free spirit. She grew up tough with her younger brother, David Holbrooks. Though David would turn out to be a star defensive player for the Mineral Wells Rams, it was Melissa who first picked up the pigskin, playing fullback for the boy’s football team on the army base. Melissa was a passionate caretaker, constantly putting everyone’s needs in front of hers. Similar to a golden retriever, Melissa never met anyone that she didn’t immediately befriend. In 1984, Melissa met her husband, Harmon “Bud” Sisemore in Mineral Wells, TX and soon after their bond of friendship grew to a deep love. They went on to be intertwined for nearly 40 years and had two children together, son Michael and daughter Christina. Melissa was a fiercely dedicated mother, whether it was spending her Monday nights watching Wrestling and Cowboys football with her son or listening to a brand new genre of music with her daughter, Melissa lived for her children and their passions became her passions. Melissa was the glue that held her family together through the obstacles and the triumphs of life. Melissa was predeceased by her father, James Holbrooks, grandfather Earl Tyson, and grandmother Katherine Tyson. She leaves behind her mother, Lynda, brother David and sister-in-law Elizabeth, husband Bud, son Michael and daughter-in-law Ashley, daughter Christina, niece and best friend Nikki Sisemore, step-sons Shon and wife Maria, Doug and partner Lisa, Kelly and wife Yolanda, step-daughter Dede, and her many beloved grandchildren. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Wells, TX at a later date.
