Melinda (Mindy Reed) Kay Torello went home to Jesus on February 2, 2022 at age 61. Mindy was born to Hal and Ruth Reed on June 5, 1960 in Independence, MO. Growing up Mindy was active in her local church youth group and choir. Mindy graduated from Van Horn High School and Southwest Baptist University, where she earned a Church Recreation major, landing her first job as Youth Pastor at Birchwood Baptist in Independence. 

Mindy had two children, Caleb Torello and Jennifer Torello Vanderwalk.  Mindy was an active, loving mother, dedicated to voluteering for school activies.  She worked teaching computer and PE to elementary students.  Mindy loved the beach and lake, especially Windermere at Lake of the Ozarks where she attended camps and many annual family reunions.  She loved to waterski and share her love for the sport with others.  Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. 

Mindy and her family moved to Texas and worked briefly for Texas A&M, before being diagnoised with Front Tempural Dementia.  It is a hard and ugly disease! Mindy came back to Independence to be with family for her birthday and summer visit in 2013. Her mother Ruth, sister Cindi, brother-in- law David, cousins and exended family surrounded her with love, activities and her care when she could no longer care for herself.  She is survived by her mother, Ruth, sister Cindi and brother-in-law David Skeen, brother Dennis and sister-in-law Julie Reed, Son Caleb Torello, daughter Jenninfer (Torello) Vanderwalk, her first grandchild, nieces and nephews, great niece and 4 great nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for family later this summer.
