Melanie Higbee, from New London CT, passed away at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital on January 4, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Melanie is survived by her husband of 17-years, Charles Higbee, her father, Felton Johnson, her brothers Ronnie Johnson and Jeff Johnson. Also, her kids John Paul Kamishlian and his wife Katelyn, Melissa Wilson and her husband Ozzy, and Savannah Higbee. Melanie also had five grandchildren, Sophia, Jamison, Gemma, Scarlett and Ozzy Jr.

Melanie was known for her contagious personality. She was the bright smile in the room and developed many meaningful friendships throughout her lifetime. Melanie was born in Albany, Georgia to Felton Johnson and Sandra Frazier Hayes. Melanie lived most of her life in Albany before moving to Flowery Branch, Georgia where she grew her roots with husband Charles and daughter Savannah. Melanie was an active Baptist, attending church regularly. Melanie and Charles moved to New London, CT in 2019 to be closer to their grandchildren. During her short time in CT, Melanie fell in love with New England and its beautiful seasons. She promoted her small businesses of Paparazzi Jewelry and Unique makeup, just to name a few. Melanie enjoyed connecting with old friends and new friends on social media, setting up trivia games and prizes. Of all of Melanie’s talents, she was a Nana. Her love for her five grandchildren was the richest prize of her life. She will be missed by so many.
