On January 12 I was not the only person who lost someone special.  Yes, I lost a wife and my best friend of the last 29 years. Andrew, Cameron and Matthew lost an amazing mom; her parents lost one of their beautiful daughters; my sister-in-law, nieces/nephew my sister and my parents all lost someone seemingly did it all and was glue that held everything together. The magnitude of this loss is immeasurable and I think I can speak for everyone when I say this will hurt for a long time.

We are not alone though.  I know that Mélanie had a profound and beautiful relationship with many of you.  The comments here and comments that have been relayed via various forums confirm what I’ve known and loved about Mélanie since day one.  As beautiful as she was on the outside, she more so on the inside.   I think we all can share so many memories of how Mélanie impacted our lives and we should.

Today marks 2 months since her passing.  Honestly it feels like it was yesterday.  The boys and I are coping and getting into a rhythm.  I’m thankful for school and activities, both keep us busy.  Busy or not, there is not a minute we don’t think of Mélanie.

I want to acknowledge your support of my boys here.  I truly appreciate it and I know they will.  There really are not enough words to say what this support means to us.

I’ll leave you with this.  Please hug your loved ones today and every day. Let them know you love them.  All though I didn’t think I could love Melanie more than I did, my love for her hit another level at the end of her beautiful life.

With love,

Dale

Melanie meant so much to the Rowayton School community. Students and staff alike adored her. We know her light continues to shine on through her loved ones.
Catching fireflies in Belgrade, wearing matching outfits,  college tours and trying to figure out how you drove shoeless with one foot up in your seat. Visits to Roger Williams, meeting Dale and listening to your big plans.  This memory is a favorite as I can still hear your laughter. You caught my bouquet. Dale was handed the garter. We knew you two were meant to be.  As Grammy Brown would say, I love you MeMe Doos.
Always Caring. Mel was passio…
Always Caring. Mel was passionate about her family, her friends and her pets. On occasion she “adopted” our Lucy and in this photo one of the boys was carrying her after a busy day. This example of selflessness was instilled by her. And what an incredible example she was. Forever missed and forever appreciated.

From the first time I met her, as a scared new kindergarten mom at the bus stop our children shared, Mel showed me and my family nothing but kindness. I have such fond memories of hours spent  outside of her home while our kids played and we chatted endlessly. She never had a harsh word for anyone. Her devotion to her family was always at the forefront of everything she did. I will never forget her.❤️ Our love and prayers go out to Dale, Andrew, Cameron and Matthew. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Simply put, Melanie was the best.  She was so supportive of me in my College basketball career. Her and Dale came to many games I had in the NY/ CT area.  This meant the world to me. Mel always made sure she had snack for me after the game.  A great example of how thoughtful of a person she was.  Post basketball career we shared a lot in common.  We both left Maine to live in the tristate area. She was essentially my closest in proximity family member. We both had 3 energetic boys and took any opportunity to get our boys together as often as we could.  I will miss her so much but I look forward to still maintaining our boys relationships as 2nd cousins.  Love you always Mel!
Where do I begin?    Melanie wasn’t only my sister, but my best friend and the absolute best aunt to my four children.  Losing her has left a huge hole in all of our hearts.  I’ll miss her friendship, love, generosity and her ability to always know when I needed her.  I miss her terribly already, but her love shines bright in all who knew her, especially her 3 amazing boys.❤️
In Memory of Melanie and in honor of Andrew's hard work in school.
Andrew, Cameron and Matthew you have your mom’s light and heart! Continue to shine bright and show the world how remarkable your Mom was to the world.  Dale, we love you and will be there when you need a hug, a laugh and a shoulder to cry on. Your best friend was a beautiful soul, we all miss Melanie’s heart and smile. ❤️❤️❤️
I love this pic I snapped of …
I love this pic I snapped of Mel at the Oyster Fest a few years ago. Mel would do anything for her boys… even carry 2 rainbow poop emoji balloons all day! She was one of a kind. ❤️
