My condolences to Mei's family.
Mei was one of the most compassionate and kind people I know. She and I met 30 years ago at our boy's nursery school and remained friends ever since. We watched each of our children grow from babies to adults. As all good mothers are, Mei selflessly gave of herself. She loved her boys. I'll miss all our talks, texting, and the sound advice she offered. Mei was strong-minded, level-headed, practical, and frugal :) We had a tradition of meeting every year to celebrate our birthdays in September and February, which were special times I will cherish. Our time together was so enjoyable, even when we butted heads on political topics :)
Most importantly, I'll always be grateful for her support during a tragic time for our family. Mei was incredibly supportive and genuinely concerned; she gave us hope. On multiple occasions, she brought home-cooked dinners. Her chicken stir-fry was delicious, and her gorgeous lemon layer cake was a mark of excellence, truly memorable!
I will never forget her words, "I am not afraid of death…. I really found peace from within me".
Those are chilling words to process, but I believe she was ready, which is comforting. She was a good friend, and I will miss her.
Jon, Nick, and Greg, I pray you will always feel the warmth of your mother's love.
With deep sympathy,
Nancy, Peter, Ali, and Chris
