Megan's obituary

Born September 12th, 2006, in Denver, Colorado to parents Vanessa Diaz and Joseph Trussell, Megan was a graduate of Northfield High School in Denver and a freshman at CU-Boulder.

Megan was a sweet, empathetic soul with an innate ability to find humor in any situation. She was a natural artist, filling sketchbooks with illustrations of life and friends. Megan also played a Fender Mustang bass and possessed a broad musical palate covering everything from Jaco Pastorius to Smashing Pumpkins to TV Girl; she was very proud of her “vintage” CD collection. She was a film major at CU who loved everything about the movies. She never missed a repeat viewing of Knives Out or The Birdcage.

Megan had a compassionate, innate ability to understand her loved ones, always making them know, with her unique wit, perspective, and love, that she was their best friend.

If you knew Megan, then you know there has never been anyone like her.

Megan is survived by her mother Vanessa Ayn Diaz and father Joseph Donovan Trussell; sister, Lindsey Ann Trussell; grandmother Barbara Ortiz; grandfather John Diaz; uncle Jonathan Diaz; aunt and uncle Melissa and Gus Perez; aunt Jennifer Diaz; aunt and uncle Jim and Rachel Trussell; aunt and uncle Scott and Anita Trussell; aunt Susan Duck; cousins Rebecca, Giselle, and Isabella Perez; cousins Alice Serraday, Zachary Trussell, Andrew Duck, Isabel Duck, Spencer Trussell, and Katie Trussell. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James “Buck” Trussell and Rosalind “Mimi” Trussell.

The family would like to thank the Brocato and McClary families in addition to friends and family too numerous to count who volunteered their time and effort and have provided immeasurable support. It is in times of darkness that love truly reveals itself.

The family would also like to thank CUPD, Boulder Sherriff's Office, and all the additional agencies and people involved for their efforts, support, and assistance.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Church Ranch Event Center in Westminster on Friday, February 28th at 1:00.
