Maynard Orson Wyckoff, Jr.
June 3, 1936 – September 16, 2025
Maynard Orson Wyckoff, Jr., affectionately known as Pete, passed away peacefully in his home on September 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old.
Pete was born on June 3, 1936, in Roscommon Township, Michigan, to the late Maynard and Evelyn Wyckoff. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Wyckoff, son David Wyckoff, and his brother Bobby Wyckoff.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Pete served honorably as a Corporal in the 4th Division from 1953 to 1956. His service reflected the courage, discipline, and dedication that he carried with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Pete built a long and successful career as a skilled tradesman at General Motors Metal Fabrication in Flint, Michigan. He retired in 1995 with 38 years of service and moved to Irons Michigan. He was a proud member of UAW Local 659 and remained an active participant in the UAW retirees group in Baldwin, Michigan. Pete was also a lifelong member of the Amvets, a testament to his deep sense of service and patriotism.
In April 1986, he married the love of his life, Kathleen (Harvey-Smith) Wyckoff. They shared 39 years of love, laughter, and devotion.
Pete loved the outdoors—he was a beloved fisherman with a passion for camping, traveling, and enjoying the simple joys of life. He especially cherished time spent with his family, his loyal dog, Bo and kitty Lucy.
Pete is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Wyckoff; his brothers Larry Fous, Jerry Wyckoff; his sisters, Maggy Watts, Mary Doyle; and his children: William Dunn, Karen (John) Horn, Dawn (Jim) Marquis, Pete Wyckoff, Tara (Rob) Lemay, Tammy (Dana) Aubel, and Tony (Patricia) Smith. He leaves behind a large and loving legacy through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Amber, Stacy, Chris, Haylie, Scott Jr., Gabrielle, Brooke, Tatum, TJ, Jordan, Ariana, Erin, Chianne, Camren, Carson, Stone, Alyssa, Tory, Liam, Luna, Kaston, Jenson, Zane, Jeriah, Kadyn, Scott James, Lydiah, Savanna, Talea, Gavin, Caley and Braxton.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the Amvets Post 1988, 1959 West 24th St., Baldwin, Michigan 49305. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring Pete’s memory.
