Maxine's obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Maxine (Ziedman) Kensic, who was born on July 8, 1946, and entered eternal rest on January 15, 2026.

Maxine was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister, remembered for her kindness, compassionate heart, and infectiously fun personality. Her legacy is defined by her unwavering dedication to her family, her zest for life, and her profound love for animals—especially dogs, who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Ziedman; her mother, Shirley Ziedman; her brothers, Ronald (Ronnie) and Melvin Ziedman; her sister, Linda Ziedman; and her loving husband, Richard (Rick) Kensic. Maxine is survived by her daughter, Christina Palumbo (Kensic); her son-in-law, John Palumbo; her adored granddaughter, Ava Palumbo; and her sister, Roberta Pisetti (Ziedman).

An extraordinary homemaker, Maxine found joy in life’s simple pleasures—savoring a glass of Chardonnay, cheering on the Dodgers, and watching her favorite Fox News programs. She loved dining at her favorite local spots, including In-N-Out and California Grill, where she enjoyed meaningful time with family and friends.

Maxine spent many hours lovingly caring for her sister Linda until Linda’s passing in 2025. She also shared a deep bond of service and community with her husband, Rick. As part of that shared commitment, Maxine was a dedicated member of the National Charity League (NCL), participating alongside her daughter Christina. This legacy of service continues, as Christina will now be enrolling with Ava in the NCL.

Maxine took immense pride in raising her daughter and was a constant source of encouragement and support—driving Christina to dance lessons and acting auditions and serving as her biggest cheerleader through every chapter of life. Becoming a grandmother was one of Maxine’s greatest joys, and she treasured every moment spent with Ava.

She was deeply loved within her neighborhood, where many neighbors became like extended family. Maxine also nurtured lifelong friendships, forming bonds that endured through the years and reflected her loyalty, warmth, and generous spirit.

A memorial service celebrating Maxine’s life will be held on January 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel, followed by a reception at 3:30 PM at California Grill & Bar.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maxine’s memory to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a cause that was especially meaningful to her, at:
