Max's obituary

Mr. Max "Schmelling" Benson was born on February 20,1939 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Issac and Lucy Benson of Hopkins, South Carolina.  He departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday August 1, 2022.

Max was a graduate of Hopkins High School, Class of 1957. After graduating, he went right into the workforce. He went on to work at Jim Moore Cadillac then on to Jim Hudson Automotive, where he devoted 37 years until he retired due to his health.

Max was a soft-spoken man who enjoyed life and laughter. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always on the go.  He never met a stranger and was always willing to help whenever he could.  He was a proud father and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Although his presence is absent here, he will forever me missed and never forgotten. His loving memory will remain for eternity within our hearts.

Max leaves behind to cherish his precious memories, two daughters: Ms. Teresa Benson, of Hopkins, SC, and Mrs. Soneika Santiago, of Columbia, SC; three sons: Mr. Kenneth Noble, of Hopkins, SC, Mr. Gregory Davis of Hopkins, SC, Mr Max Benson Jr, of Yuma, AZ. His Grandchildren: Gregory Davis Jr, Xavier Mack, India Fulmore, Genesis Fulmore, Rion Davis, and Bradley Benson. He was also blessed with 7 beautiful great grandchildren, a loving and devoted aunt, Mrs. Nancy Bell of Irvington NJ and a host of other close family, friends, and neighbors.
