Maurice's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Maurice Isom, Sr., loving family man, esteemed Air Force veteran, and beloved member of our community. Maurice entered God’s eternal rest on September 5, 2024.
Born on December 7, 1967, Maurice was a beacon of light for his family and friends. His infectious laugh and wise words will forever be remembered. His lessons like "Family First", "Your word is your bond", and "Keep your head on a swivel" reflected his belief in maintaining integrity and vigilance.
Maurice's life was enriched by those he loved and those who loved him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Miranda Isom, whom he married in 1992. Their unshakeable love was the cornerstone of the Isom family. To their union were born three beautiful children - Martreasia Montez, Maurice Isom, Jr.(Pa'Tricka), and Marek Isom. He was also blessed with another son, Brandon Frierson (Sarah).
His loving grandchildren - Keijon Bartlett, Cameron Bartlett, Myana Montez, Ahna Frierson, Avery Frierson, Amarah Isom, & Arion Isom - were a source of immense joy for Maurice
Maurice is also survived by his Father-in-law, Elder Donald Armstrong (Mary Armstrong), and his Mother-in-law, Jeanette Caldwell (Geano Caldwell), Sister: Tina Johnson, Sisters-in-law: LaDonna Thompson(Antroy), Tommillia Drumgole(Ramel), & Shawanda Odom( CJ), and a host of Uncle's, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Preceding Maurice in death were his parents David "Poppa" Johnson and Shirley Isom-Johnson, and his dear grandson, Amari Isom.
After a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, Maurice retired in 2010. Following his retirement, Maurice filled his time with family, friends, music, and his true passion of helping people. He was a kind, generous, funny, and thoughtful man, who could also be a handful .
His greatest accomplishments were his wife, children, and grandchildren. Maurice’s legacy of love, laughter, and family will continue to live on through them.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to the PTSD Foundation of America, a cause very close to Maurice's heart. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of….
In the Immortal words of Maurice, " It won't be long now...Ain't that what the monkey said when he got his tail caught in the meat grinder & If you can Huh--U can Hear.
We take solace in the words, "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him."
2 Corinthians 5:8-9
As we grieve Maurice's absence, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace with the Lord.
