Maureen's obituary
Maureen Ann Puppe of Eden Prairie, MN passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, at age 85. She was a woman of boundless love whose life was defined by creativity, kindness, faith, and generosity.
Born March 4, 1941 in Spokane, WA as the eldest of seven, Maureen attended Gonzaga University and the University of Washington before joining Northwest Airlines as a flight attendant. This role ignited a love of travel and decades of service in that industry. For several years she curated group travel experiences to Scandinavia, and she explored the wider world with savvy and delight throughout her life. Maureen’s career later turned toward beauty of a different kind as she brought her artist’s eye to sell fabric and quilting supplies on both sides of the Atlantic.
Her deep devotion was to her family. She married her late husband Marlyn in 1963, and during their 47+ years together they built a home of love and laughter, regularly welcoming a wide gathering of friends to the table. To her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, Maureen was a daily presence and an unwavering source of warmth and wisdom. Her heart of service was a natural expression of her Christian faith.
Maureen nurtured flower gardens and people with the same devoted hand-- cultivating an ever-growing circle who claimed her as honorary mother, grandparent, sister, or best friend. She joyfully stepped into each role with a rare ability to notice and remember what mattered most to each person, honoring them in ways that felt entirely their own. Her signature gesture was sending beautiful handmade cards filled with words of encouragement, never missing an occasion.
Maureen is survived by her daughter Michelle Louis (David); grandchildren Claire and Collin; siblings Christie Long (Robert), Tim Burns (Kathy), Dennis Burns (Bonny) and Laurie Gapp (Jim); and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Marlyn Puppe; her parents George Lancaster (who died when Maureen was age 2), Elizabeth and Edgar Franklin Burns; and siblings Sheila Bradley (Jim McGranahan) and Dan Burns (Linda).
Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11 AM, at Mill City Church, 685 - 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413, with a visitation at 10 AM and a reception to follow. Guests are asked to enter via door 3 on Madison Street.
To honor Maureen’s life, her family invites you to make something beautiful and give it to someone: a letter, a painting, a meal, a posture of wholehearted attention. To do so is to embody Maureen’s memory and to carry her love forward.
