Maureen's obituary

On Friday, August 19, 2022, Maureen McCoy of Austin, Texas, loving sister, mother, and aunt, passed away at the age of 64 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Maureen McCoy was born on December 9, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawai’i to Margery and Marlin McCoy. She had one sister, Marilyn, and one brother, Michael. She received her bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Sociology from Jacksonville State University and a master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from Auburn University. She worked in various levels of local, state, and federal government throughout her career. She retired as the Director of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) in 2014. During her retirement, she volunteered with many organizations including the Austin Diaper Bank, Austin Wildlife Rescue, Central Texas Food Bank, and Meals on Wheels. Maureen had one daughter, Amy, whom she loved dearly.

Maureen was preceded in death by her mother and her father. She is survived by her sister, brother, sister-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, niece, nephew, and several other family members and friends.

Plans for a celebration of life will be shared at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations that were close to Maureen’s heart: Austin Diaper Bank, Austin Wildlife Rescue, Central Texas Food Bank, and Meals on Wheels.
