Hi.  My name is Betsy and you all do not know me but I had the honor of spending some time with Maureen during the time she was in hospice care.  We had wonderful conversations and she spoke fondly of her nieces and nephews in particular.  I'm sorry to hear that she passed and I send my condolences to all of you.

Maureen absolutely loved to sit by the ocean the ocean in the sand in the beauty of Falmouth Mattapoisett Salem Willows. She absolutely loved the ocean.
In response to "What did Maureen love to do?"
Maureen's life interview:Q: Where did you go on vacations as a child? A: We didn't really take many vacations but we would go to Grandma Nelly's on the weekends all summer. Sometimes we would get an ice cream down the Cape or go to Scituate to Grandma Polly's. Q: What was your mom like as a child? A: She cooked and baked a lot. Sometimes she would surprise me with a new dress on my bed. She wasn't very cuddly and would sew my clothes. She used to make me and my doll matching outfits and said it was harder to make the doll's clothes than mine. Q: What was your dad like as a child? A: He was the love of my life. He was so proud of me and would show me off all the time to everyone. He was kind and gentle until he got older. I generally had a happy childhood though. Q: What were other notable family members like? A: Grandma Nelly was kind and loving. She said the rosary everyday, loved baseball and had a big garden and orchard. Q: What are some of your favorite music, songs, movies? A: I just love Adele. I also really like The Notebook movie. Q: What were your favorite toys as a child? A:  Marbles, Jax, Candyland, hopscotch, jump rope and 12in Jinny Dolls.Q: What are one of your fondest childhood memories? A: I used to go clamming, we would bring the clams home and mom would cook them. I also loved sledding. Q: What big historical events do you remember living through and what was that like? A: I was a junior in high school when Kennedy died. They announced it on the loudspeaker and we all went home crying. I also remember there being sirens during the cold war and you would have to hide under your desk. Q: What was your first job, worst job and best job? A: My first job was waitressing I made .75 cents an hour plus tips. The best job was private elderly care and the worst job was some position I don't remember but I do remember I left during lunch and never went back. Q: In what ways would you say you are like your parents? A: I am loving and kind like my father and i enjoy cooking and baking like my mother. Q: What is your best relationship advice? A: Be a good listener and don't judge. Unti you walk a day in their shoes you don't know what their life is like. Treat others how you want to be treated. Q: What is your best parenting advice? A: All children need love, discipline and structure. They should be taught you are what you eat and how to eat healthy. Q: What do you wish you could tell your younger self? A: To listen to your gut feelings. Q: What is your life's biggest regret? A: Moving in with Marty. Q: What are you most proud of about your life? A: Having my boys and teaching them about God.

I am so sorry to hear about Maureen.  We haven’t seen each other for many years but we talked a lot on the phone.   I will miss  my dear friend.   May you rest in peace Maureen with your son Douglas.

God  bless you

One of my favorite memories as a child was visiting Aunt Maureen. She was kind and funny and really talked to me, with genuine interest. I felt a connection to her immediately and I am very sad that she is no longer with us. But I am happy that she is with her God and her dear son. I know that she is ok. I love you Aunt Maureen!

Maureen,   I love you, I'm going to miss you more than you'll ever know.   You were the best older sister anyone could ever ask for.  Your love, caring, compassion, concern, kindness, humor, generosity  are only a few of the qualities  that you possessed.                                                                I learned so much from you, that I became the  "Goodie to Shoes" in the family.   There's a special bond between us that grew throughout the years that no words can ever quite convey.                                                                        As a member of God's family thru Jesus, we become heirs of Heaven. He shared his very life with us, life that is eternal  and transcends all time and space.  No death does not separate us from those we love. It deepens our union with God and with each other. Rest  in peace till we meet again on Heaven's  bright shore.
