I was so sorry to hear about Maude's passing. We were so deeply saddened to hear of her passing . It was indeed our honor to spend the time that we were given with her . Indeed a great loss. May her memory be a blessing.

My grandmother Maude was the definition of tenacity and spirit. She’d whip around the streets of South Jersey in her baby blue Cadillac. Haggled and sold everything from collectibles to produce for decades at the Berlin Mart. She could nurture the most stubborn roots into full bloom. She was fiercely proud to be from Camden and seemed to know every person and brick in the city. She insisted on working in the Tailored Tutoring office even at the age of 85 because she liked to stay busy and help family.
We both shared a love of driving, and my favorite memory is when she asked me to drive her Cadillac a few years ago. We were at a red light when a car pulled up beside us, revved its engine, and nodded for us to race. I laughed it off, but my Grandmom said, “Honey, show him what we got.” And she cracked up as we left that other car in the dust.
She was tenacious in a world that demanded so many women of her generation be subservient. Independent, resourceful, and strong-willed when she could have buckled. I’m grateful for a fierce legacy of Jones women who have looked life head-on and haven’t been afraid to show them exactly what we got. You will be missed, Grandmom!
