Matthew's obituary
Matthew Ryan Plemons June 15, 1994 - March 27, 2025
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Matthew Ryan Plemons. Matt lived his life to the fullest, embodying a strong faith in Jesus Christ, and an unwavering kindness and strength that touched everyone who knew him. He had an incredible caring heart for others and was especially gifted with an innate ability to connect with people of all ages. He met everyone with compassion, without judgement and had a unique capacity to make people around him feel loved and truly seen. His example of unconditional love resonates with all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Matt grew up in Fayetteville, NY and graduated from Fayetteville Manlius High School in 2013. He enjoyed photography, loved animals, the outdoors and adventure. He listened to a wide variety of music (Red Hot Chili Peppers, of course), loved Anime TV shows and online gaming with his gaming tribe that ultimately became his friends far beyond the screen. You could always find him building Legos, wearing flannels and hats, and digging into his Bible. His favorite color was blue which matched his remarkable eyes and his favorite drink, Baja Blast. Above all he loved spending time with friends and family.
At just the age of 9, Matt was a granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation - an experience that inspired his desire to give back to Make-A-Wish whenever he could, reflecting his kind-hearted and generous nature.
Matt’s spirit lives on in the hearts of the many people who loved him. His deep faith, gentle heart and fearless love are lasting gifts to everyone lucky enough to have known him. While we miss him deeply, we also celebrate the life he lived and the love he shared with everyone he knew.
Matt is survived by his mother Susan Plemons-Rhoads (Chris), his father Rodney Plemons (Michelle), his siblings Brian Ogle (Jenna), Raquel Grady (Mike Lane), and Jon Monheim (Ayaka). Matt’s extended family includes Jess Vossler (Andrew), Samantha Winn (Andrew) and Trevor Hotchkiss, as well as countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends spanning from Syracuse, NY to Lubbock, TX.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Make-A-Wish Central New York (www.cny.wish.org)
