We had so much fun visiting mercyhurst homecoming weekend. There is truly never a dull moment with Matt. Whether we were hanging out at the river our at the house in Tully he was always the life of the party. We’ll miss you Matty.

Matt met the world to me at VMI. We were in the echo company together and echo company just so happened to not fit our personalities the best. Matt’s way of taking everything in stride, combating everything with humor; helped me to do the same and push through. This led to a friendship after the rat line where his personality and humor continued and made so many great memories for me. I am so very saddened by this loss, but know the memories of such a great person will continue to live on. Love you man and you will be greatly missed. Rest in peace brother!

At VMI, I vividly remember that Matt was ALWAYS smiling no matter what the circumstances were. Matt & I marched a lot of PTs together rat year. I hope that one day, our sons will get to do the same. You are missed and will always be loved Brother!

Matty P! Not a person in the 315 doesn’t smile when they hear your name. That’s a good life. 

Thank you for lighting up our home and hometown. It sucks we didn’t get more time with you but heaven has a gatehouse basement and we’ll see you up there.

I roomed with Matt Rat year at VMI. He was a character; never a dull moment. And he was great at attracting RDC to our room.

I remember one night he purposely swallowed mouthwash before a sweat party. Wild.

Great guy. Hard to believe we lost him. He and his family are in my thoughts.

What a tragic loss. I’m sorry for your loss and emptiness that you all may feel. I hope the Piazza and Hopton families are able to find some comfort and peace reading all the beautiful words people are sharing about Matt. I more so remember Meg’s Matty P Mini Me once they were engaged. There was just not enough time with Matt.  I also remember him breaking out the Patriotic suit at the wedding, a beautiful day that forever will be cherished.

2020
When Covid took over and the birthday drive bys were a hit. Matt and the “hood” made it one to remember with the bikes and tractor! Of course bode is just hanging on his back! He loved that! Matt was such a great guy, too many memories in a short time frame you guys lived in Aspen! The Webbs send our love ❤️
