The last time I saw Matt was at my birthday party in 2021. This week, I was trying to get a hold of him to get his address to send him an invitation to my next birthday party. I knew something was up when Matt's cell phone came back with a reply of a wrong number and his email bounced back, but didn't realize it was this. I met Matt at ReadyTalk, we were co-workers, but became fast friends. What a tragic loss. Sending my condolences to his family. May Matt rest in peace.

Thinking of you Matt, and just so sad you aren't here to enjoy 2025 with us. We miss you.

I first met Matt when interviewing him for the SCM (DevOps) job at McDATA. I liked him right away - he seemed driven and intelligent. Of course, we ended up hiring him. Not only did we gain a competent coworker, but many of us at McDATA found a new friend as well.
He always enjoyed a good laugh.. Quick witted, he could make the day go by easier with his light-hearted sarcasm or one of his creative (though harmless) pranks. If one of us was going to give a presentation, Matt would find a way to inset extra slides into the deck - things like “how a bill becomes a law, or a summary of the Louisiana Purchase. These additions would no doubt threw us off mid-presentation. And, we knew exactly who put the extraneous slides in there. I also remember him leaving nuts and bolts underneath my office chair so that I would become paranoid about it collapsing. Or, on my last day in the DevOps department prior to transitioning to software engineering, his parting-prank of installing an extra wall to my cubical - fully enclosing my workspace so that I could not get in. So, you could say he was resourceful, too.
I’ll remember Matt as humorous, kind hearted, and clever. We’ve lost him too soon. I’ll miss him.
