I am sad to learn of this news. Matt certainly lived an interesting and artistic life. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing Matt’s story. I haven’t run into any of you brothers since CWU and it was beautiful to see the pathway of his time on this earth. He was a sweetheart and I will alway remember his smile.

Thank you one and all for helping us create such a lovely event celebrating Matt's glorious life. I know he enjoyed having us all get together to enjoy the many stories and anecdotes of his life with us. Much love and warmth to all of you as we carry Matt further in our hearts :)

My favorite memory of Matt was spending a summer crossing the country with him as “instructors” for the Cascades. How effective we were as teachers is up to debate, though it likely wouldn’t take much time to come to a conclusion. But we had a helluva fun time seeing new places, watching great corps, becoming closer friends, and laughing more than we deserved to.

One thing I loved about Matt was his irreverence and inappropriateness! I have been sharing stories about him for years, but here’s one that stands out:
When we were in Adobe technical support together, I overheard Matt on the phone saying …
“You’re calling from Louisiana?? I’m picturing you on your computer in the back room of a home suspended on stilts, waaayyy out on the bayou… Is that accurate?”
And around 5:00 many days, Matt would stand up and shout out, echoing the odd words on the Windows 95 shut down screen, “Everyone!!! IT’’S NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER!!!”
I can think of many more stories too inappropriate to tell! God, I will miss you, Matt.
(Sadly, I will be out of town during the memorial, but I welcome someone to share this there on my behalf.)

Larger than life; larger even than his brothers, in a uniquely Harshman way. Matt was definitely one of a kind, and while the reserved follower in me could never quite fathom his amazingly out there persona, I was always in awe of him. Not much chance that I could ever forget Matt! Rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear the news that my oldest nephew Matt passed away. I remember him well growing up over the years and I got to know him really well after he graduated from college and spent a summer with me when I lived in Vancouver, WA. He will be missed.

I am beyond sorry to hear this news. I worked on the Layout team at Adobe with Matt for 10 years, and we remained friends afterwards. His smile, energy, and enjoyment of life were contagious. He always wanted more cow bell! He loved his son and being a good dad more than anything. I will miss Matt so much.

I'll never forget all the fun times we had in the Cascades but especially the fun summer we had in Hawaii. A lot of great memories indeed. My condolences to the rest of the Musketeers! Your friend always, Dark Tanskin!

Such fond memories of a super funny guy with a heart of gold. Many years traveling, practicing and performing with Seattle Cascades, just 2 kids from the "hood" ... and he always made me feel like my big brother was with me. Gods speed my friend, enjoy your dance in the sky!

What a huge loss! Matt was such a great guy. I met him at Adobe—we rode in the vanpool together. We would spend the whole ride joking and riffing and laughing until it hurt. After that, I enjoyed seeing him around the neighborhood—we lived only a block apart. Getting to run into him was always a day-brightener. My heart goes out to his family and entire community.
