Matt was a very dear friend to me and I will never forget the memories we shared together. Beach volleyball during our college days or 10 pm bbqs during which Matt made sure the charcoal really cooked through on that small Weber grill. I will never forget his many laughs or when he would yell hey devo look at this! You could call Matt for anything and we would just talk and figure it out, and It didn’t matter what time of day. There was nobody like him because he truly cared about you and would be there at the drop of a dime. We love you Matty Dee may your spirit live on!

Matt was great with kids. Any time he would come over, my children would get excited and yell "Dougherty!!!!" He even made shrimp that my son likes, which is crazy to me. Matt was an excellent cook and helped me figure out how to make my chicken wings crispier. He is greatly missed.

We were so sorry to hear the very sad news of Matt’s passing . Bob reached out to Danny to find out if it was true. We are praying for the whole Dougherty family - praying for strength and support of your friends to be there for anything you need. There just are not words to help at a time like this. We are praying for you.  Bless you all.

My heart is breaking for you, Dougherty family, on the loss of your dear Matt. He was an important part of Gemini and was skilled in lifting the spirits of those who felt down. His heart was huge and we were honored to have him represent Gemini several times as we sent teams to feed the local struggling homeless folks at the Salvation Army center in Roseville. Matt was a wonderful human being. He always tried to lend a hand as much as possible. He had a very goofy side about him. I loved my brother very much. I will miss him deeply. He was my best friend. I will cherish our memories together. I feel like a part of him will forever be in my heart. I miss you buddy. Love, Randy.

We’re so heartbroken with Matt’s passing. We never thought this day would come so suddenly. There were so many more life moments to be had.

I don’t understand why things like this happen though I believe he’s now living his best life in heavens court.

I’m so sad that our future kids won’t meet him here on earth, I always knew he’d be the best uncle ever! No offense Chris lol Im going to miss him teaching his kitchen secrets. Matt is the reason I love home made chicken wings. He’s actually the reason I take my sauces seriously.

Matt was absolutely selfless, the one I know I could count on for anything! He was so generous! My favorite thing about him was that he gave the best Christmas cards. He always found a way to make you laugh and make you feel seen.

There just so much more i loved and will miss about Matt, he really was one of the best people I’ve met.

I love you Matt! I will be missing you till we meet again. 🌷
