Matthew Thomas Boggs, age 21, passed away on January 11, 2019 . Matthew leaves behind his loving parents, Kim and Jeff; his older brother Ronnie; his younger sister and best friend, Erica; and his bulldog Tyson. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Doris Porter, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. His paternal grandparents, Mary and Ronald Boggs, were there to greet him on the other side. Matt resided in Palm Harbor, Fl for the past 2 and 1/2 years but considered the Chicago area his home. He lived in Manhattan, IL for 14 years from 2002 to 2016. He graduated from Lincoln Way Central High School in 2015. He loved his Chicago skyline tattoo on his left arm which honored the area he grew up in. Matt was a funny and loving person and would do anything for his friends and family. His struggles with addiction lead to many ups and downs in his short life. He had been clean for 6 months and made a poor decision that could not be undone. He would want others to know the truth so that they might learn from his mistake. He is now at peace and hanging out with many of his friends who have passed much too early. In the end, Matt was a HERO and was able to donate his kidneys to save the lives of two other people. Through his donations to LifeLink, he will be able to help countless others. A flag flew in his honor for 3 days outside Mease Countryside Hospital to honor his organ donation. Cremation was handled by Eternal Cremations in Dunedin, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Matt's honor to HERO - Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization. HERO is a 501c3 organization in Matt's hometown area near New Lenox, IL that helps families of those battling heroin addiction.
