Dear Bloom Family,
May I extend heartfelt sympathy to all Matt's family who are an example of loyalty, intelligence and joyful living. Rest In Peace.
Sincerely,
Elaine (Hoffman) Cannarella

As neighbors at Ocean View, we will miss Matt very much. He always had a smile and a good joke to brighten the day. He spoke with such love for his entire family, and may he rest in peace.

Matt was our neighbor at Ocean View and although our daily encounters were brief we will surely miss them. Matt was friendly, warm, helpful and always had a big smile for us. I wish we had known him longer, and we send condolences to a family who will greatly miss such a good man.

Just found out about Matt’s passing, condolences to the entire family. I was a neighbor to Matt at Ocean View since Matt bought here and a terrific neighbor he was, always greeting me with a new joke, we shared a few Yuengling’s together over the years.

I will miss Matt. We shared stories in Florida while playing tennis of our times spent when young in Port Jefferson, Rocky Point and Hallack's Landing.

I was so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing. I remember running into him not long ago at Riverside Park as he was getting ready to take a jog. Matt was one of the first players I meet when I joined the tennis club in Fl. I had such fun playing with him and loved his ongoing repertoire of jokes. Matt you will be missed. My deepest sympathies to the family.

I’m sorry to hear about Matt’s passing. He was always upbeat when I saw him at our tennis club. I was lucky to play tennis with him a few times. It is such a great loss when people like him leave this earth. But his memory will truly be a blessing to all who knew him. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Matt Bloom, you were always high on the list of favorite teachers to be included in our JFK class reunions over the years and you always accepted and joined us! Your genuine interest and affection for all your past students spanned decades. We so loved you and will remember you always with great fondness. Rest in eternal peace, dear Sir

Matt was my Father-in-Law’s best friend. He was quick with a joke and made THE stiffest martini I’ve ever consumed. We went to the driving range in Florida. I shanked many times and Matt was quick to correct my swing. I regret that we didn’t have the chance to talk about music like I do with my father-in-law Ed Brickley. I am a Jersey boy disciple of Bruce Springsteen and Matt discovered the Future of R&R before John Landau. This donation is in memory of Matt, but also for Mary, who for the times I got to meet her, is a true Saint, just like my own mother who passed away from Alzheimer’s. I am truly humbled by the kindness and humility of the Bloom and Campo families as well as all the lifelong friends they have kept. It is a true testament to the character of Matt and his devotion to family. I say, “ La Familia”

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Matt's passing. Our family has known Matt since his high school days in the early 60's. He was a good friend to my brother, John, since high school. They shared many good times, crazy times, and laughs. He had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our deepest heartfelt sympathies to the entire Bloom family. May his memory be eternal. With love, Maria Moraitis and John Geralis

It saddens me to hear of Mr Blooms passing. I was also a student of his in the early to mid 70's at Comsewogue HS. His love of books, writing and most of all music. He loved Bob Dylan. That's what I remember most! And he turned all of us students into instant Foghat fans. The world has lost one of the greats.

Mi-Buddy Matt......ML and I were very shocked and saddened to hear of Matt's passing. Matt was a true friend. When we both retired from teaching (1999), Matt invited me down to Florida. We stayed at a beautiful condo on the ocean. He introduced me to the Florida lifestyle. (golfing, tennis, fishing, etc.) Matt truly loved Florida and we tried to get together often. His love and devotion to his family was obvious. His family came first. Matt was one of a kind and will be missed by all that knew him.
RIP Matt, we will miss you forever.

My sincerist sympathy to all of Matt’s family. Knowing Matt was a pleasure. His fellow colleagues and students admired his candidness and friendship. Matt and I worked together at the “Wog” after retirement to Florida we were able to catch up at our yearly reunions.
We had some things in common. We loved our careers, both born in Brooklyn, me on February 5, Matt, March 4…same year.
I will miss his sense of fairness, humor, and knowledge.
May God hold Matt in His Peace and Grace. 🙏🙏🙏😞 George Gerson

The sorrow and loss Debra and I feel is immeasurable. Matt was like a member of our family who brought joy to our lives every day we shared in Stuart Florida.
The world is a sadder place without him.

Matt was one of a kind. His sense of humor was infectious. If you were with him, you were laughing. He was bright, well read and educated but never pedantic. He has enriched the lives of many and will be missed. I can safely say that the world is duller with his passing.
