Matt's obituary

Matthew Andreas Bjorge passed away November 19 2019. Matthew surprised his parents by arriving into the world 8 weeks ahead of schedule on August 21, 1976. He had a truly brilliant mind. He learned to read at age 3 by looking at the newspaper and asking his mother what specific words were. He continued to do this until he managed to piece everything together. Matthew had a natural inclination toward math and won several state math competitions in high school. In true nerd fashion, he liked to challenge himself by memorizing digits of pi. He got up 1000 at one time, and he liked recite these digits to his son in utero.

Matthew could often be seen with a rolled-up logic puzzle book sticking out of his back pocket. It looked kind of weird, but he was never one to care about such things. He adored his children. He was constantly telling people stories about his kids whether or not they asked to hear. He would tell his kids ridiculously silly stories filled with horrible puns, many of which they can still recount. He had a quick and clever wit.

Matthew loved poker. He had a tremendous amount of respect for the game and enjoyed playing with people who felt the same way. He never raised or folded out of turn, and he would never think of behaving like a whiney little bitch if he lost a pot. He always took it on the chin.

Matthew had the unique ability of being able to see the complexity of seemingly simple situations. He saw the complexity in people as well. He was slow to judge others and rarely held a grudge.

Matthew was a regular blood and plasma donor and helped to save many lives. He would often receive calls asking him to donate. He rarely ever declined even if it meant getting up early on a Saturday.

Matthew is survived by his father, sister, son, daughter, and an ex wife who loved him very much.

We are truly heartbroken over his passing. Matthew lives on through his children who already excel at math and bad puns.
