MaryAnn's obituary
MaryAnn Kessler, 71, of Brooklyn, NY, spending the majority of her life in Sarasota, FL and Greenville, SC, passed away on July 10, 2023 , in West Palm Beach, FL, surrounded by love from her family and friends after a long battle with cancer.
MaryAnn was born on January 3, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY to parents Salvatore and Frances Silvio , who both have predeceased her). After graduating high school, MaryAnn pursued her passion of caring for others obtaining her CNA and RNA licenses.
In the mid 1970s, MaryAnn married Howard Kessler in New York and shortly thereafter moved to Sommerset, PA, where they had three children. Michael J. Kessler and Sarah B. Kessler both survive her, yet her youngest son, David S. Kessler passed away in June 2007.
MaryAnn was a strong and determined woman, having battled breast cancer successfully in 1991. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021, which she underwent treatment for, yet it was no match for her weakening body. She lived a happy life, full of optimism, strength, courage and of course, humor to get through the not so easy times.
She was certified through the Courts as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, which was her passion in life. She adored working with Child Protective Services to keep children safe, healthy andl loved. Her daughter, Sarah, eventually followed her footsteps and was certified as a Guardian as Litem through the Supreme Court of Florida.
In her spare time, MaryAnn enjoyed decorating, playing cards, taking wallks, going to the beach and watching the sunset (as long as it didn’t interfere with her reality tv show addiction). She was also a foodie and a master chef when it came to cooking (same even called her the McGuyver of the kitchen).
MaryAnn was predeceaaed by her son, David Samuel Kessler, her brother Anthony Silvio, and both of her parents, Salvadore and Frances Silvio.
She is survived by her eldest son, Michael J. Kessler, daughter Sarah B. Kessler, and brothers Salvatore Silvio and John Silvio.
