Boy, that woman could control a room / a school / a schoolyard. She had presence -- big time -- and a big heart. I happily made the same trek she did from Long Branch to Alexandria so our girls could have sleepovers. MaryAnn, you made such a difference in so many lives -- love to you, Kailyn, and Kylah

I met Ms. MaryAnn Hazel-Jackson when I first started at Long Branch in 2015. She was always so warm and welcoming. She was always going the extra mile to support her students and had such a great relationship with her students and staff. Extended day always seemed like a fun and safe place because of her. She was such a positive light and her death is a huge loss. Sending my condolences to the family and friends of MaryAnn.

Ms Jackson and the teams she led helped raise my kids. And as if that wasn’t enough … in one memorable time … when life was really hard on me and my three… she pulled me aside during busy pick up time to tell me that my kids would be fine and would come through this hard time fine because they had me and I was the rock of Gibraltar. Her words. And I have held those words so dear for so long now. She took the time to see so much and she took the time to lend me some of her inimitable strength. I find myself again in a time that is hard on me and my three. I am deeply saddened to hear that Ms. Jackson is gone. Please know that her steady example of strength and kindness and grace as well as her words continue to buoy me and bring me strength. And I expect I will hold that dear memory in my heart for years to come.
May her memory be a blessing.

So sorry to read this. My condolences to everyone in Mrs. Jackson's family. What a great woman, and what a loss this must be.
Mrs. Jackson ran an amazing extended day program at Long Branch. Generations of us loved her program and all she did for our children. Mrs. Jackson ran a tight ship, of course, but also let our kids grow, spread their wings, and run a bit wild in the gym if that was their thing. My active little boy (now a grown man) loved nothing better than playing dodge ball with "the graders" as he called all those not in kinder.
May her memory be a blessing.

My condolences to MaryAnn's family. She is and will always be a special person in my life forever and will never be forgotten. MaryAnn loved showing up for her kids everyday. She'd never take off work, and I used to wonder why. Now I know, it's because she loved what she did everyday for her students. Which is showing up for them and seeing the smiles on their faces when they went to Extended day at Long Branch with Mrs. Jackson. She gave us some great memories for sure. Love you always MaryAnn.

Mrs. Jackson and her wonderful staff were a favorite part of our daughters’ day at Long Branch. She was wise and kind and so good at running the program as well as the summer camp at Fairlington. She will be missed.

Ms. Jackson was always so loving and kind to my children and to me. She greeted us with a smile each day and put all of herself into her work with the kids. My deepest sympathies to her family.
