MaryAnn's obituary
As an Army Brat, MaryAnn lived in many different places across the United States, Germany, and post warJapan. She attended high school in Germany, where she attended prom at Neuschwanstein Castle, and graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in Pennsylvania in 1957. She attended Hershey Junior College and Cornell University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Connecticut and a Master's of Human Communication at Eastern Connecticut State University. MaryAnn spent her life in the Nursing field and taught the LPN program through the State of Connecticut until her retirement. She loved teaching but always had a soft spot for the Emergency Department at Day Kimball Hospital. In addition to Nursing, MaryAnn was an avid reader, movie enthusist, theater patron, and loved animals, many of which she raised on her farm. MaryAnn showed Corriedales, Romneys, and Natural Colored sheep. She was active in many sheep organizations and helped run the Woodstock Fair Sheep show and the North Haven Fair Sheep show for many years. Throughout her life MaryAnn was a talented artist, drawing and painting, and later in life became a Needle Felt Artist known for her quirky animals and gnomes.
Duchess leaves behind three children; Andrew William Franklin, Kristen Lousie Donovan, and Charles Frederick Franklin III; five grandchildren; Ashling Windle Donovan, Rosaleen Louise Donovan, Dillon S. Donovan, Owen William Donovan, and Aiden Charles Franklin; and two beloved great grandchildren,
Torin Albert Donovan Beatty and Elanora Lilly Beatty. She also leaves behind extended family, friends, former co-workers, sheep breeders, and Army brats around the world.
