Mary's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Our beloved mother, Mary Witty, who entered into God’s Kingdom on July 21, 2025 after a second battle with cancer. Mary was born to Donald and Mae Herrold on November 04, 1954 in La Porte, Indiana., and spent a lifetime touching the lives of those around her with her grace, kindness, and tenacity.
Mary led an extraordinary life marked by her enduring spirit and unwavering optimism. Her laughter was infectious and she had an innate passion for enjoying the subtle things in life. Her joy was matched only by her generosity, often displaying acts of kindness to both friends and strangers alike.
Born in the mid-twentieth century, she enjoyed growing up on a farm with her siblings before being swept away by her husband, Robert Witty. A match truly made in heaven, Mary & Bob Witty went on to have 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Together they witnessed some of the most transformative events in modern history. Widowed at the young age of 54, she navigated through these times with both grace and resilience, imparting lessons of perseverance to all those fortunate enough to cross her path.
She was a beacon of strength and source of inspiration for many. She embraced all the challenges life threw at her with courage. Even in the face of adversity, she held on to her spirit, making her the epitome of resilience and determination.
Mary's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives she touched. Her passion for life and loyal service to God was contagious and continues to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain within us.
Mary joins her husband Robert Witty and her parents Donald and Mae Herrold in Heaven. She is survived by many loving family members including: her daughter Nancy and Husband Rabbit McCord, daughter Kim and husband Mike Peelman, son Bill and wife Jessica Witty, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, her siblings: brother Ron and wife Deborah Herrold, sister Jane and husband Mike Neviett, and brother Henry and wife Denise Herrold.
The echo of her voice mirrors that of Psalm 150:6 which reads: "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!"
