Just before Uncle Lester and Aunt Mardele left for TX, they visited his nephew, Layfette Skeen and family at Baker Village apartments in Columbus, GA. Aunt Mardele and Mardy gave me some clothes she had outgrown. One was a reversible solid blue skirt and the other side was tic-tac-toe on it. It was my very favorite skirt and one I remember to this day. Mardy said she’d never forget how happy she made me with that one item of clothing.
It was years later we met again at her cousin Shelby Skeen’s funeral. Let me tell you….it was a day made of special memories and felt like she’d never been away.
To Mardy’s family, her memory and love has never gone away and she’ll be missed.
We love you all.

My father, William Shelby Skeen, passed away in 2004. I was at the funeral home along with my wife Connie and several members of our family. We were all standing outside talking and sharing memories when Mardy arrived. She loved daddy very much and had driven all the way from Texas for his funeral. I was very surprised and happy to see her. A time with her that I will never forget. I loved Mardy very much and I am sure others do as well. She told me the week before she passed away that she was looking forward to being with her love Sid again. I am very happy to know they are together now. My love for you always Mardy!!
