Mary's obituary
Mary Jane Twombly of Pickens, South Carolina, fell asleep in Jesus on March 6, 2024.
She was born on October 2, 1931, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Oscar and Gertrude Hope. Jane grew up in a loving home alongside her five siblings and carried that same warmth into the family she built. On March 2, 1953, she married the love of her life, Thomas Arthur Twombly. They raised two children, Debra Kaye and Michael Bryan.
Jane had a vibrant spirit and a wide range of interests that reflected her love of life. She enjoyed cooking, quiet afternoons reading, thrifting, and watching her favorite television shows. She also loved traveling, discovering new places, and creating memories with her loved ones. She found her greatest joy in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the treasures of her life, and she poured her love, encouragement, and wisdom into each of them.
A lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jane’s faith was the anchor of her life. She faithfully lived out her beliefs, leaving a legacy of devotion for her family to follow. She strongly believed that Jesus was coming soon, and she poured that hope into her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, all five siblings, her son Michael (1994), and husband Thomas (2010). She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Kenneth) Lee; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She is forever remembered and even more greatly missed by her family who look forward to seeing her on the resurrection morning.
