Sue's obituary
Mary Sue Britt Davis, known affectionately as Sue to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, at the age of 84 in Tarpon Springs, Florida. She was born on February 6, 1940, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, and left this world leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and creativity that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Sue grew up in the warm embrace of the beaches in Jacksonville, Florida. She loved riding her bike to the beach and collecting shells. She graduated from Fletcher High School where she had many close friends and was a key player on the girls’ basketball team. Her thirst for knowledge led her to attend the University of Florida for a year, where she pursued her interests with passion and determination.
In her professional life, Sue channeled her innate creativity and keen eye for design into a successful career as a custom home designer and sales representative with Jacobsen Homes. Her work not only showcased her talent but also her ability to understand and bring to life the dreams of her customers. She was known for her warm approach and the genuine connections she forged with clients and colleagues alike.
Sue's interests and hobbies painted a picture of a woman who cherished the simple pleasures in life. In her younger days, she found joy in the intricate patterns of macramé, the delicate stitches of sewing, and the cozy textures of crocheting. As the years went by, her love for creating with her hands gave way to the enjoyment of immersing herself in the pages of novels, the stories of movies, and the excitement of football games on television.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. Sue was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rich. She is survived by her adoring children, Lynn and her husband Bobby, and Beth and her husband Joel. Her legacy continues through her four adult grandchildren and their children, who will carry forward the cherished memories and values she instilled in them. Sue also leaves behind stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from Rich's family, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Those who knew Sue would describe her as a caring soul, always ready with a kind word and genuine interest in others’ lives. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with strength and serenity during life's trials and tribulations. Her creative spirit was evident not only in her work but also in the beautiful life she crafted for herself and her family.
Sue's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, faith, and creativity—a beautiful piece of art that reflected the depth and beauty of her soul. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
As we say farewell to Sue, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on this world. Her story is one of a life well-lived, filled with the love and grace that she so freely gave to others. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
