Mary's obituary

Mary Ellen Kukkula Post of Green Valley, Arizona, born on December 10, 1933, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to the late Nellie Jopilla and the late Edward Eino Kukkula, passed away at age 86 on February 21, 2020, in Tucson, Arizona. Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edwin Earle Post; sons Edwin Raymond Post and Gregory Booth Post; sisters-in-law Betty Post Wotton (Bob) and Brenda Post Frandsen (Phil); nephews Edward A. Kukkula, Martin J. Kukkula and John Smigel; and nieces Katherine Kukkula (Gravel), Nancy Wotton (Scarzello), Donna Wotton, Suzanne Wotton (McManus), Robin Wotton (Faraone), Wendy Smigel (Gasparini), Sally Smigel (Gagne), Kristen Frandsen (Draughon), Carrie Frandsen (Gunnell), Michelle Frandsen (Smith), Julie Frandsen (Smith), Deborah Frandsen (Feist) and Lisa Frandsen Stonehocker). Mary was predeceased by her brother Edward J. Kukkula and sister-in-law Shirley Post Smigel.
Mary graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in microbiology and then earned her master's degree in medical technology at Yale University. Afterwards, she worked at Yale University Medical Center as a medical technologist. Mary and Ed lived in San Diego for most of their married years. She loved playing golf with her friends and was a frequent visitor and supporter of the San Diego Zoo and the other local amusement parks. After Ed retired, they moved to Green Valley where they could enjoy the yearly bird migrations in southern Arizona. She was an avid birdwatcher and a devoted wife, mother, aunt, and great aunt. Mary loved to shop for others, and she was happiest when she was making other people happy. Mary was cremated at Oasis Cremation and Funeral Care in Tucson, Arizona.
