Mary C Montanez, civic leader, mother of three children, passed away peacefully surrounded by family August 15, 2024 in Mesa, AZ.  Mary was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico July 5, 1927.  Mary was married to the late Gustavo Montanez; US Army WWII POW Veteran June 19, 1948.  She is survived by her two daughters Sally Cortright and Patricia Thompson and her son David Montanez. Mary championed the needs of the Hispanic community with perseverance, dignity, and pride.  She was a finalist for Woman of the Year from the city of Burbank, CA  in 1975 for her civic endeavors.  Mary will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, CA on August 30, 2024 at 9:00am with a family/friends gathering to follow.
