Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Marlene Charlotte (Faulkner) Wareham, passed away unexpectedly, on April 29, 2022, in Fredericksburg, VA. Marlene was surrounded by her loving family members when she passed peacefully at Mary Washington Hospital. Marlene was born to Emma Mae Cass on January 6, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, moving to Chicago, IL at age two. She met the love of her life, Raymond Leroy Wareham, and had three daughters in Chicago, Debbie Wareham, Margie Scalf, and Rebecca Wareham. Marlene attended Waller High School, Moody Bible Institute, and Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, where she studied social work. After moving to Virginia with her family in 1986, Marlene later attended Northern Virginia Community College and received her Associate's Degree in Human Services. She was ardent about sharing the love of Jesus with others and was an active and integral part of Rhoadesville Baptist Church with her husband, Raymond, of 51 years. She enjoyed volunteering with numerous organizations throughout her life, such as the Salvation Army, Greenpeace, Pregnancy Resource Center, homeless shelters, PBS, and more. Marlene loved flowers and gardening, going on trips, reading, and spending time with her family, particularly her grandson, Regan Taylor Self-Wareham with whom she enjoyed baking, arts & crafts, swimming, nature walks, and telling knock-knock jokes. Music, including being a member of the choir at every church she attended, was a passion of hers. She loved good old gospels, hymns, and Elvis. Marlene stayed active and enjoyed the positions she held over the years at Technicolor, Prince William County Schools, Gunston Hall Plantation, Montpelier, and most recently, the Lake of the Woods Membership Office. All who knew her spoke of her kindness, her gentle nature, and willingness to help those in need without judgment. Now that Marlene has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Marlene’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her with the Lord. Marlene joins her mother Emma, stepfather Robert Cass, granddaughter Arielle Dawn Adams, grandson Jayce Marcus Scalf, and siblings Joe, Bill, and Edna in Heaven. She is survived by her husband Raymond, daughters Debbie, Margie, and Rebecca, and grandson Regan, whom she delighted in. "I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth...The Lord watches over you-the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.'
