It is with fond remembrance that we announce the passing of our cherished matriarch, Mary Ellen Lorton, on January 31st 2024, at the age of 80 years old. Surrounded by the love of her family, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to the eternal embrace of God.
Mary Ellen was a beacon of faith, embodying Christ’s love with a radiant spirit that touched the lives of those around her. She devoted her life to serving the least of these, leaving an enduring legacy of faith and the Father’s grace.
As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Ellen Lorton exemplified resilience and trust in God, providing an example for her family to follow in the face of life’s adversities with radical faith.
Her wisdom and selfless actions made a lasting impact on the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Survived by her loving children Barbara (Jim), John (Shannon), Victoria (Shane), and Elizabeth (Sam), grandchildren Mark (Crystal), Michelle (Eli), Jenna, Chance (Maura), Dylan, Jonathan, and Jadon, great-grandchildren Kady, NovaLee, EllaRhea, Eli, Laynie, Cami, Asher, Lucas, Logan, God-sister Sandra, God-children Shannon, Chad, and Alicia, and a wide circle of friends and family, Mary Ellen Lorton leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to inspire us all.
A visitation for remembrance of Mary Ellen’s life will take place on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church Events Center, located at 776 Vaughn School Rd. Griffin, GA 30223. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring the remarkable life of this beloved woman, finding comfort in the knowledge that she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
May her spirit rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy of love and faith be a source of inspiration for us all. Amen.
