Mary's obituary
Mary Frances Keith, 83, of Albany, GA passed away on the 6th of August 2024 in Marietta, GA at Wellstar Community Hospice Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain. Memorial to celebrate Mary's life will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
She was born in the small unincorporated community of Cool Spring(s) in Horry County, South Carolina on the 4th of January 1941 to James Ernest Beaty and Mamie (Page) Beaty.
She cherished her time at Whittemore High School, graduating in the class of 1959, which she spoke of fondly as providing a lifetime of memories with her sometimes mischievous school friends and siblings. Following high-school, in the early 1960’s, Mary moved to NJ where she worked as a nurse at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital before getting a job as a phone operator at Jersey Bell. On April 18, 1966, she married in Sylvester, GA and went back to NJ to started a family which later relocated to Albany, GA in the early 1970’s. She transferred as an operator to BellSouth where she worked until retirement at the age of 54. Mary moved from Albany to Kennesaw in 2023 to live with family. Outside of loving her work, family and God, Mary spent her days indulging in reading, Barbie collecting, stamp collecting, coin collecting, gardening, traveling, and as she would tell some doing “as less as possible”.
Mary, known for her humorous and loving nature, is survived by her children Kathleen Keith, Coretta Keith (and her husband, Terrance Bryant) Stephanie Keith and Edward Keith; grandchildren, Jaylon Burke and Camelia Burke; sisters, Geneva Beaty, Hazeltine Myers, Gladys Montgomery, Carolyn Beaty; and a brother, Patrick Beaty. Her life was also enriched by many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie Page Beaty and James Ernest Beaty, as well as her siblings, Peggy Beaty, Evelyn Beaty, James Beaty Jr., and Charles Beaty.
Her family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers and gifts, those wishing to honor Mary's memory consider contributions to charities that may assist in research for some of the health struggles she encountered during her life, such as American Heart Association, American Kidney Fund, National Kidney Foundation, and Alzheimer’s Association. Or plant a tree in memory of her to one of Mary’s favorite charities, the Arbor Day Foundation.
