To David-

I cannot imagine how much you will miss Mary.  You have the gift from her of Shoen and his family to help with your loss.

Mary enjoying the Seabreeze and her family and friends
Mary Jo (I always knew her as Mary Jo) first met in 1972 or 73. She moved to Boulder Colorado with David and was a psychiatric nurse. She also had experience with Vocational Rehabilitation. From the first moment we met I knew we were kindred spirits. She was a fun person. We shared the same birthday too. I was in charge of Boulder County Mental Health Center's Hospitalization Prevention Program and we needed a nurse to run the vocational rehab workshop and help give the patients meds. Mary Jo was perfect! She was not only fun to work with on a daily basis, with the best sense of humor, but she also knew what she was doing professionally, and I didn't. So I relied on her a lot for advice. That developed into a lasting friendship. She, David, Marcy (my wife at the time) and i would hang out, go to parties at our houses, get in the hot tub, go hiking, play music, sing and just have the best of times. This continued even after they left Boulder and we hooked back up with them when they lived in Bonney Doon. We would go to their house lot. Marcy and I built a house outside of Boulder and David and Mary Jo bought land near Davenport and started building their magnificent masterpiece, which we regularly visited and participated in, Every year our families would get together for Thanksgiving and Mary Jo would cook the turkey and trimmings. These were as fun times as ever and included my new wife Tal. We did this every year from about 1982 on....What great times. Always full of music, football, lively discussions. We had very divergent opinions about many matters but our love for each other prevailed. As Schoen said, she was a fighter and we loved hanging out with him, David, my kids and Tal...Going to the beach, hiking, music. We really appreciated life together!!
In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with Mary?"

What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful woman. I’ll always treasure her kind words to me this year.

I remember a great day when we were moving our cattle to summer pasture and Mary rode and helped ..it was a very special day! Oh yes I think David and Schoen rode as well. It was fun and we got the job done!

Sending you all love and hugs,

Elizabeth❤️
