Mary Jane’s heart and front door were always “Open”.   She was such a happy person, and so willing to help others.  We miss her.
May Jehovah soothe your hearts and our hearts  as well. We have lost a true friend, true grandmother, and a faithful loyal servant of Jehovah.  We send our condolences.

With love,

Acquah Family.

Wow, can’t believe that Jane is not with us. She has always been there my whole life. I have many fond memories with her and her wonderful family! From the time I was a baby stories and memories of the wheeler family especially Jane. They have been there for us from the day I was born to Gerry giving my fathers memorial talk. The hugs that Jane would give that made things better.

• Potluck congragation get togethers.

• Congagation meetings.

• Spending Vacations on the Property.

• Convention/ vacation travels.

• Spiced tea when visiting Jane and Gerry. Sitting in the Landry room listening to cassette taped old radio shows, Lone Ranger, Sherlock Homes, so many more! To this day I enjoy listening to those same old radio shows on the radio and every time I do, I can see myself as a kid sitting with her drinking spiced tea watching her iron or folding clothes as we listened.

• Most of all the spiritual support to our family over many many years.

I look forward to seeing her again soon,  but as a younger spiritual grandmother. I pray that Jehovah’s arm is around you the Wheeler family. Our hearts will not whole again until she is returns. Our Love and Prayers are with you all!

What is looks like to be a steadfast woman of faith. Unflappable, peaceable, submissive,, resourceful, generous! Should I emulate her even remotely I would be delighted! She is deeply missed!!!!
Sending love to the Wheeler & King Family at this very sad time. We pray Jehovah will continue to comfort and strengthen you through the love and care shown by the congregation, family and your dear friends.  Hopeful for the time, just around the corner, when you will all get to embrace Jane again and have the opportunity to create many new happy memories together... forever.  Such a blessing that Jehovah yearns for that day.  (Job 14:14, 15)

Jane was a wonderful sister, I'm at a loss for words. But we will always remember and miss her straight to the point and often humerous comments at the meetings. Please accept our deepest Condolences from the Cross family. ❤❤

May Jehovah continue to hold the entire family in his arms until the day you have Jane back in yours. Please receive our condolences and prayers on your behalf.  I had the privilege to be in the same congregation with Jane from 1980-1984 in Highland Park.  We would chat quite a bit together and we will do that again in the New World.

My condolences to Mary's family. I first met Mary when [ describe how you know each other ] and we would often [ include common activities together ].

I just wanted to share a couple of anecdotal stories about Jane that I thought you would all appreciate and recognize about her.

Jane was always the epitome  of preparedness and took pride in that!  In fact it would not be wrong to say that before “ to go bags “ were even a thing, Jane always carried the original to go bag. Jane’s purse WAS  the original to go bag. No matter what anyone needed, especially Gerald, you can bet she had it in her purse. This could be anything from a toothpick, to a nail clipper, to a spare hanky, or even an extra shoe lace. And, Gerald depended on that from her. Some of her friends would make the comment that she had everything in her purse except the kitchen sink. So she would smirk and reach in her purse and bring out a little palm sized toy kitchen sink and show it to them. This always tickled her so much!

And another one. I’m sure you all would agree that Jane was the consummate notetaker,  AND that she never threw anything away. So one day a few years ago, we were sitting around as a family and I was trying to think of the name of a family in our congregation in the 1960s, the Edgewater congregation. For the life of me I could not remember their name, and the best description I could give of that family did not ring a bell with anyone. So after a few minutes Jane got up and went in the back room for only about 10 minutes and came back with an old faded piece of notebook paper that she had hand written the names addresses and phone numbers of all the people in that congregation. And sure enough, the family name I was trying to think of was on there. Mind you, she had written this list back in about 1965, and she knew exactly where to find it . Anyway, this led to a wonderful night of conversation about families that we hadn’t thought of for decades.

At times  we’ve all made a little light of these quirks of Jane Wheeler, but these were truly the things we loved about her. All those little things, and she, will be dearly missed.   -Mike-

It was my pleasure to spend time with Jane and her family this year. She helped teach me so much about Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a beautiful example of grace under pressure. She never complained no matter what she was experiencing. I will forever remember her admonition when I kept asking questions about scripture. She said, “KISS…keep it simple….” It has helped me numerous times to not overthink things and to just take life as it comes. Just as she did. I will never forget her and am grateful for the time I was able to spend with her and the family.

I was very sad when I heard the news of Jane's passing. I remember a time that I had the honor of going out in service with Gerry and Jane, ( congregation Mom and Dad ) Jane had taken me to a return visit and it happened to be a man in his mid 20s. He offered us to come inside and so we did.  Mother Jane started out the coversation about who is God, and the man was so interested when she showed him Jehovah's name at Psalm 83:18 and she and I were having a wonderful conversation, and it came to be that Jesus was our savior and that in fact that he couldn't be God almighty because Jesus had said that his father was greater than he, well it was a great topic it seamed, however we had other ears listening in the kitchen! It happened to be the man's mother and she burst out with "Excuse me! Jesus is God almighty! It says it in the bible!"  If anyone knows Jane well, she didn't get upset or bash back with any defensive words. She in a soft voice ask the woman if the next time we come would she mind showing us in the bible where Jesus said that. We left peacefully.

Later we went to McDonald's for a coffee break and if anyone knows Jane she always had her vintage McDonald's cups for the whole car group. I can't wait to share some more coffee and cookies with you again mom. We all love you so so much, Have a good rest and see you when you get out of bed!

With great love from the Howell family.

Gerry and Jane have been friends for 60 years. The loss of Jane has impacted all of us. The beautiful relationship they had for over 70 years encouraged me as well as Mike and JoAnne and their families. She will be missed. The hope of the resurrection takes on a new poignancy now.
I have often wondered what the apostle Paul meant when he said of Timothy, “I have no one else of a disposition like his…”Phillipians 2:20. Well, I have my answer- Jane Wheeler. Among many things that I have stored in my heart and mind, I will never forget her sincerity when she would say, “Anything I can do, you can do better.” I try to have that same mental attitude as I carry on in my daily life. I miss her dearly.
I had to take time to think before I was able to post my message regarding Jane,  all the wonderful things that have already been posted about her are so true, she was kind, she was loving, she was generous, she was hospitable. Jane always put Jehovah and spiritual interests first in her life and made sure that those were the most important things in the lives of her children, I so admired her for that. But for me personally, Jane was the best mother-in-law anyone could ever have had, she immediately embraced me, she took me in and made me feel that I was a real part of the Wheeler family, she made me feel loved and needed. I will always cherish the time I had with her and I look so forward to spending eternity with her and the rest of the Wheeler family in paradise. On the humorous side, I remember the time that Mike and I rescued a cat from my granddaughter, on the way home we stopped at Jane’s, took the cat in and presented it to her as a gift, we were joking of, course, but the look on her face was priceless!! She made it very clear that she appreciated our thoughtfulness but did not want a cat. I was privileged to experience such a wonderful woman in my life, all aspects of her personality were wonderful and amazing.
Dear Jerry, Mike and Jennifer, JoAnne and Tim and your families,  we send our love to you as you celebrate Mary Jane’s beautiful life.  We will always remember her happy smile, her sweet wit, and the love she so openly shared.  Thinking of you and sending our love.  Jim and Cathy Wheeler (AZ)
I was truly, heartbroken when I heard the news of Mary's passing.

Your mom was a good looking lady! They and you two kids were very young when I first met you. I started coming to the Kingdom Hall in 1962 and they must have moved there shortly after.  I have so many fond memories of that congregation (Edgewater). And the faithfulness of your parents as well as you.

I remember when your dad had a part with an older brother who fell asleep and your dad came and shook him but couldn’t get him awake.  Another talk he gave was on the United Nations. To this day I recall his detailed breakdown of it!!   And the mid week meetings for service at their house at 3020 Eaton Street.  Only sisters and me conducting! Lastly for Mike only - going to a congregation picnic and what your mom said to me.  Love to you Jerry, JoAnn and Mike.

I so look to the wonderful promise from our great God Jehovah of seeing her united with you and the rest of us.

Dear Mumsey,   We can’t even believe its already been a week since you left us!  You have left a void that can never be filled until you return to us in the resurrection. We can hardly wait. The heavy hearts we carry and the tears we have shed only attest to the truly wonderful woman, sister, mother, wife and friend you were. The outpouring of love from your great circle of friends and family only underscores your contribution to so many lives. We all will continue to miss you so much. We are looking after Gerald in your absence the best we can.   You were without a doubt the glue that held your 70+ year marriage together. Only you could look after Dad the way you did. You were the supportive wife that many a husband can only dream of.  I remember during all his building/remodel projects that spanned the entirety of your marriage, you unfailingly followed after him with a broom and dustpan, cleaning up the construction  litter and dust. There was never cleanup to do when the daily work was done, because you did it all as you went along. Plus you served him three meals a day and refreshments during those same days!  Who does that??  Only “The Jane”,  and you always did it with a smile even if some harsh words were spoken occasionally.  You ALWAYS put your family ahead of self, that’s a great part of your wonderful legacy. However, your support of Gerald as an Elder’s wife is possibly your crowning achievement . It takes a special woman to be as supportive as you consistently were during the many long and arduous hours that that Gerald spent caring for the needs of the congregation, the circuit and even the district. We are all so proud of you and the strength you showed right up to the end. You stayed active in your ministry, and no matter how hard the daily struggle, you got out of bed and sat with Gerald all day every day! All of the above being said, together you looked after the spiritual needs of each other, and your children above all.  JoAnne  and I will forever be thankful for the fine example you both set for us and  that you raised us in the truth, and protected us from this wicked world and nurtured our faith in Jehovah and the wonderful hopes for the future including a new system and also a resurrection. Who could ask for anything more?  With Jehovah’s help, you were a model of a successful life, and you had no need to carry any regrets. We love you so much! We will miss you profoundly, but as our spiritual family continues to remind us, we view this as only temporary and know that relief from the sting of death is only just around the corner❤️💋!   -Mike-
