Mary Grace's obituary

Born on October 29, 1976, in Cauayan, Isabela, Mary Grace L. Samonte's early years laid the foundation for her accomplishments. She started her educational journey at St. Xavier Montessori School and later transferred to Nan Sing Chinese School, where she demonstrated academic excellence. In 1988, she moved to Manila, Philippines, to continue her elementary education at the University of Santo Tomas. After graduating from high school at La Consolacion College in 1994, she pursued a degree in Medical Technology at Centro Escolar University. Her journey continued in 2002 when she migrated to New York, United States, with her siblings.

Grace's most recent position was office manager at Eye & I Optometry in Bayside, Queens. She was highly regarded and loved by everyone at her workplace. It was also where she met Joe Han and family, who has since become our family friend.

Furthermore, Grace was part of the World Seido Karate Organization, as a karateka, she volunteered and worked at the front desk. She formed lifelong friendships with the fellow karatekas, that became a significant part of her life. She shared this passion with her children and 2 other siblings, at the same dojo, making it a cherished family experience.

Grace was a remarkable woman. A warrior with a heart full of love and kindness. She didn’t just live life; she lit up the lives of everyone around her. Her kindness was her superpower; she always found a way to make people feel cared for, valued, and supported. No matter the challenges she faced, she never hesitated to lend a helping hand, share a kind word, or show compassion to those in need. Her strength and resilience were a constant source of inspiration.

She taught us the importance of fighting for what matters, standing strong in the face of adversity, and, above all, leading with love. Even in her most difficult moments, she remained selfless, always thinking of others and ensuring that we felt her unwavering love.

Grace will always be deeply loved and fondly remembered by her siblings: Donna, Bong, Milo, Owen, Allan, and Francis Samonte.

Grace is survived by her devoted mother, Puring, her beloved children—Julian, Raphael, Noel, Nicholas, and Gian—and her cherished grandchildren, Addison and Damian. She is also remembered by her wonderful and loving siblings, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, relatives, lifelong friends, and neighbors.

Mary Grace L. Samonte of Queens, New York passed away in the Peace of the Lord on Tuesday, Dec 31, 2024, at the age of 48, at Calvary Hospital Care Bronx, NY.
