I can say that Mary was always full of smiles and a welcoming heart. Trish and I became fast friends our Freshman year and I spent lots of time at the house. As time passed and the trio formed, I like Jenny mentioned have very fond memories of nights spent getting ready and hearing Mary chuckle away at us. I am so very glad that she was in my life and will miss her.
Mary always welcomed me into her home as a teen. Undoubtedly, she would be found downstairs crocheting, tv tray table near her chair. She had a way of belly laughing at even the smallest of things, which always made me smile. And, though she kept that basement cold enough to hang meat in, somehow she always made it feel warm with her welcoming nature. I am sure I overstayed my welcome quite often, but she never made me feel that way. She was always quick to pull out a needle and thread when my cheap clothing blew out a seam before a night out cruising Main Street, though I am sure she shook her head at some of the monstrosities I wore! Something about her always made me feel warm and fuzzy, even as an adult. She was witty, intelligent and loving, humble and generous. She will always, always hold a special place in my heart. I'm so thankful that I had her in my life, and that she let me into hers.
