Background
Mom definitely believed in the importance of giving. Every year, we would see her donating money to causes important to her or things to help others less fortunate. We have put a few causes that were important to her here with a little of the back story.
When Mary Ellen was young, she went to a Little Sisters of the Poor High School and even wanted to become a nun. Clearly Mom did not. Ever since though, she always supported the Little Sisters and their mission of serving the elderly poor around the world.
Mom loved dogs. Albie, Duchess, Hannah, Molly, Gracie, and even Valerie's dog Zelda were part of Mom's life. Mom always gave to the ASPCA.
After her mother was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, Mom added Breast Cancer to her causes that she supported - especially as friends of hers also fought against it. Contribute to Little Sisters of the Poor
