Mary Ann's obituary

Mary Ann Risley (Land), a cherished daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by loved ones. Born to James “Pat” and Donna Land on January 24, 1960, she embraced a life of love and dedication.

Mary Ann's educational journey began at Vincennes Lincoln High School, from which she graduated in 1978. She pursued her passion for Special Education at Vincennes University and Indiana State University.

On August 24th, 1981, Mary Ann married Raymond Nelson Risley, embarking on a beautiful journey together. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Christopher Ray Risley and Jessica Ann McMenamin (Matt), and one cherished grandchild, Aiden Jaymes.

As a devoted military wife, Mary Ann relocated frequently, making several states her home until Raymond's retirement in 2021. In 1994, they settled in Fountain, Colorado, where they built a loving family environment.

Mary Ann's life was filled with joy, laughter, and countless cherished moments. She found immense happiness (and occasional outbursts) coaching and cheering on her daughter's sports teams, spending quality time with her family, and welcoming her sister Inez for their yearly visits. Her grandson, Aiden, held a special place in her heart, and their bond was truly unbreakable. An avid sports fan, Mary Ann enjoyed cheering for her teams and relished the camaraderie of joyous laughter and togetherness.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann overcame obstacles with unwavering strength and tenacity. Her courage and influence extended far and wide, touching many lives in ways she might never have fully realized. Her spirit continues to inspire those who knew her.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Raymond, her children, Christopher and Jessica , son-in-law Matt, and grandson Aiden. She is also survived by her siblings, Inez Wehrman (Phillip), Victoria Snyder, and Lonnie Joe Land (Stacie), as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and great-nieces.

She reunites in passing with her parents, James and Donna Land, her brother, Richard “Dick” Land, mother-in-law, Doris Risley, brothers-in-law Rick Risley and Joe Risley, and one beloved nephew.

Mary Ann's legacy is one of love, resilience, and compassion. She will forever be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the extraordinary light she brought into the world. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will hold her dearly and honor her wonderful life.
