Marvell's obituary

Marvell Sosa passed away on February 26, 2024. She was born May 19, 1952 to Maurice and Katie Lee Patton in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She was born and  raised in Louisiana and graduated from Grambling State University  with a bachelors degree in social work and graduated from Wichita State University with a Master  of Education and Counseling  and  school psychology. 

 She also served her country in the Air Force from 1979-1983 at McConnell Air Force Base as well as at Andrews Air For e Base in Camp Springs Maryland. 

 Marvell was honored by the Wichita business journal in 2019 as a woman in business honoree she was asked what her best advice was for a woman just beginning her career

 Marvell responded 

“the race is not given to the swift but to the ones who endure until the end set your eyes on the prize and never give up just keep taking one step at a time it might seem that everyone is out running you but just stay steady and go focused and you will make it in your own time “

Marvell was also recognized in 2006 by the Wichita community action league and was presented With the unsung hero award Marvell consider this her greatest professional achievement because it’s signified for her that she was thought of not by the Rich or the influential people of the community but by all of those whose lives she has touched in some manner Marvell is a remarkable individual who deeply cared for the Wichita community and tirelessly served the patients at Health Court clinic her unwavering dedication and selflessness made her a treasure to all who knew her she will be greatly missed.
