Marva's obituary
Marva Jean Harrell was born on February 17, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska and became an angel on March 7, 2026.
She was known by many names. Her church family called her Ms. Jean. Her sisters called her Jeannie. Her children called her mom. Her grandchildren called her grandma Jean.
She survived by her remaining family Patty and Rick, Debbie and Dave, Chris and Kristin, Jessica and Ryan, Michael and Laurie, nieces and nephews Howie, Angie, Chad, Stephanie, Matthew, Ashley, Scott, Michael, and grandchildren Tina, Mick, Caleb, Aidan, Broddy, William, and Mason.
Jean started her journey as a preacher's wife while she was married to Robert Duguid. She then transitioned to become a home health care nurse where she helped patients in their home with meals, baths, medical assistance, and polite conversations. She then transitioned to care-giver for late husband Lawrence Harrell once he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Jean's second home was Highlands United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, cooking for the masses in the fellowship hall, arts and crafts during vacation bible school (VBS), and setting up Christmas decorations for the Christmas Cantata. Whether she knew you or just met you, once you walked through those church doors, you were now part of her church family. She was always singing no matter what she was doing and she constantly brought a smile to everyone's face with her personality.
Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, with onset Dementia in 2022. She transitioned to memory care at an assisted living facility in 2023 where she enjoyed baking, singing songs, and telling multiple stories about being a farmer's daughter and working on the farm back in Nebraska. She lost her battle with Alzheimer's and became an angel in March 2026.
