Martyn lived with overflowing light and love.
When I was a teenager I remember standing in the kitchen as Ros shared the story of their engagement. It was a sweet fairytail/love story and made quite an impression on me. Knowing such kind, genuine and loving adults (when I was so young) was a wonderful example.
His influence helps me be a better person and I feel so lucky to have known him. Sending all my love to you Ros, Liv, Alex and families❤️

We loved seeing and talking to Martyn at all of Olivia's family events. My husband Tom is also a British ex pat engineer and the two of them always had tons to talk about. Martyn was always so friendly and kind to us. He was clearly a devoted father and grandfather and we will miss his kind smile and wise perspectives.

After Livvy's graduation, the whole family drove up to RI for a visit. Alex had to leave early.

Dear Ros, dear Olivia, dear Alex,
Was it at the Church of the Good Sheperd in Pyrford, Surrey? We met in the mother-and-toddler-group: Ros, Olivia, Thais - my daughter - and I. Then, Miguel and Martin joined us. Pedro and Alex would not be left behind! Born not long after the other, they joined us for the ride. Such an intense and rich time!
I am sending you my condolences with my deepest feelings. Forever grateful for the shared experiences starting our families!
Love
Daniela

My parents met Martyn and Ros when Ros and my mother were pregnant with Livy and I, or perhaps it was with Alex and my brother, respectively, when we were living in England. All of us moved around quite a bit since then and have been able to meet again a few times in our lives and it always felt like such a special occasion. Perhaps because Livy and I, Alex and my brother share the same ages, I always felt that our lives ran in parallel is some way and there was always this connection between our families in spite of the distance and all of the twists and turns of our individual lives.
I always think of Marty as this warm, jovial, funny, lighthearted, joyful, and wonderful person and will always remember him that way. To Ros, Livy, and Alex, I send my sincere condolences, a warm hug, and all my love. The four of you are in my heart and in my prayers.
Love,
Thaïs.

Dear Ros, Olivia, Alex, and all the family,
Martyn was, and in our memory continues to be, the nicest, warmest, and sweetest person we have ever met. Helena and I purchased our first (and only) home directly next to yours on Dartshire Way in 1999 when we were just starting our family, with Cristina 4 and John Nicolas 1. We could not have imagined more loving and thoughtful neighbors that immediately became dear friends.
For many years, Helena and I have always said that we won the "neighbor lottery sweepstakes."
Though Martyn was only a little older than Helena and myself, he became the "near grandfather" of Cristina and John and, perhaps in some ways, our own "near parents." We remember fondly Martyn's many encouragements and support, from the time he built a raised-bed garden for John Nicolas to the many times he applauded and cheered Cristina's singing and performances at the Griffiths's yearly Christmas Party.
We will always remember Martyn as a gentle soul filled with warmth and compassion.
With all our love,
Helena, Cristina, John Nicolas, and John
