Marty's obituary
Marty James Gooding, age 63, of Lewisville, TX, passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Marty was born on September 22, 1960, in Fort Benning, Georgia to Jim and Mary Gooding.
Marty was a God-fearing, fun, loving husband, father, brother, and most notably the best Paw Paw to ever exist. Survived by By his Wife, Marabeth. His Daughters, Maralee, Rebecca, Elizabeth & Francesca. His Sons, James, Emmett, & Marty Jr. His Brother, Dennis & Sister, Jenny. He is preceded in death by his son Zechariah, his Father Jim, his Mother Mary & his sister Cindy. He can be found busting a dance move and singing a silly song in Heaven with them!
Marty and Marabeth spent 38 incredible years of marriage together. Their love for one another was undeniable, built on the foundation of Jesus Christ, unwavering support, and deep affection. Together they weathered the chaotic beautiful storm that 7 children bring and made a home filled with love & laughter. Marty loved his wife as God called man to do, & he did an excellent job at it.
He was known for his captivating story telling, embarrassing his children in order to get the best belly laughs, and his award winning shoulder roll dance move. Marty spent countless hours volunteering at local churches to help with their food banks and making sure people knew they were loved. When he wasn't spending time with his family or indulging in his love for the Texas Rangers, you could find him perfecting his title of being a "jack of all trades" through his handyman business. He was the man that found the good in everyone and sure was proud of you in any tiny victory you had. He could make anyone laugh and leave you with a smile on your face just through his sarcastic humor alone. If you had the pleasure to know Marty, you knew his love. He was immensely strong and his exterior displayed that, but his heart was always warmth. He gave the best advice and left imprints on hundreds of hearts. When sitting here to write these words to describe Marty, I find that there aren't even enough words or ample amount of time to tell you everything so I'll end with the silly saying that we loved to hear him say most; "you aint good like me, you a punk!"
