I've known Marty for many years and we always stayed in touch. I have been texting him for a while with no return from my messages, I knew something was wrong. Marty was a good friend to brother Paul and even travelled to California to visit Paul when he was sick with lung cancer. Marty was probably the best athlete I have come across but even a better friend to my brother. I wish the Bona family my prayers and wishes.

I first met Marty when he moved to Farmington during 3rd grade at Longacre Elementary. Marty had a broken wrist and the teacher assigned me to help him write his school work. We formed a singing group called the Bananas in 6th grade and sang at the school assembly. This started a long term friendship that lasted over 50 years. Great memories of playing Rockets football and Falcons football with Marty. We also played high school baseball and American Legion baseball together. Marty was a great athlete and friend. I have such great memories I will always cherish.
