It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marta Beman, on December 9, 2023 after a short and aggressive battle with renal cancer. She was born to the late Fielding H. Lewis and Jacqueline F. Lewis on September 9, 1952. Marta was a woman of exuberant spirit, fierce independence, and infectious humor.

Marta is survived by her children Lindsay Renegar White, Matthew White, Michael Beman Jr. and Elizabeth Beman. Her children-in-law: Damon Renegar, Danielle White and Christina Beman. Marta also leaves behind her grandchildren: Gavin Renegar, Liam Renegar, Collin Renegar, Mateus White and Logan White. She is also survived by her siblings: brother F. Duncan Lewis and sister Paige Lewis Dachille.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Michael Beman, whose memory she held close till the end.

Marta was a free spirit with a sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh. She had a deep love for rescue dogs, board games, puzzles, and candy.

Professionally, Marta dedicated her time and passion to the Ocean City Reef Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the sustained improvement of recreational fishing and diving in Maryland's coastal waters. Additionally, Marta provided private tutoring services to children in the community.

We will forever remember Marta Beman for her vibrant spirit and her fierce independence.

Marta's wish was to be cremated. A private memorial service to celebrate Marta's life will be held in the spring. The details of the service will be shared with family and close friends.
