Marc's obituary

With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Marquez Ayden Aurelius Espinoza, who left us far too soon at the age of 18. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Marquez was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose presence lit up every life he touched.

Marquez was known for his sense of humor, big, mischievous smile, and silly laugh. Marquez had a heart full of love, a spirit full of laughter, and a soul full of energy. He loved to tease everyone he cared about and had the ability to make people feel better with his presence. He was playful, creative, hardworking, strong and kind-hearted.

Marquez had the ability to see the good in everyone and the positive in every situation. He believed that every person deserved to be loved and that every moment had meaning. He encouraged others to be better—not by judging, but by loving, leading, and lifting up those around him. Marquez carried a strong faith that deepened as he grew older, symbolized by the cross he always wore. There wasn’t a mean bone in Marquez’s body. It was in his nature to be gentle, giving, and endlessly good.

Marquez lived life with passion. He loved football, his truck, and his loyal dog Bluey. He enjoyed building LEGO masterpieces, welding, working out, going on adventures, gaming with friends, and spending time with his family.

A recent high school graduate. Marquez was preparing to serve his country in the United States Air Force, with dreams of building a proud, purposeful future. He was driven, determined, and eager to make his family proud.

Marquez is survived by his mother Vanessa Herrera. On his mother’s side, he is also survived by his beloved big sister, Katelyn Baca; his grandparents, Carmen Mora and Albert “Baboon” Herrera Sr., his great-grandmother, Jenny Mora. He is also survived by his Uncle and Godfather Andrew Martinez, wife Meghan, and their four daughters: Farrah, Carmen-Lucía, Moira, and Paloma; his Aunt and Godmother Amy Gonzales and her three sons: Estevan, Emilio, and Wolffe; his Uncle Albert Herrera Jr., wife Eva and their children, Albert III and Aaliyah.

He is also survived by his father, Paul Espinoza along with his wife Mercedes. On his father’s side, he is also survived by his loving little sisters, Katalina Espinoza, Acelina Apodaca-Pekoc, Amiliah Espinoza, and Esmeralda Apodaca-Pekoc; his grandparents, Deddie Rivera, Tony Luu, Paul Sr. (Twyla) Espinoza, Sam Pekoc, and Annissa Apodaca; his many aunts and uncles, Evelyn Espinoza (Diego), Juanito Sr. Espinoza (Sabrina), Marrissa Apodaca-Pekoc, Pablo Apodaca-Pekoc (Taylor), Justin Espinoza, Maya Luu, Makayla Espinoza, and Gia Rivera; his cousins Jaylyn, Eddie, and Julian Garcia; Juanito Jr., Kassidy, and Katrina Espinoza, Amirra and Andres Gallegos and Nova Hidalgo.

Along with the Lucero family, and many other relatives and close friends.

Marquez was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Jerry Mora; great-grandmother, Louisa Herrera; great-uncle, George Lopez; and cousins Francisco Aragon, Michael Gurule, David James Marquez, Jessica Mora and Sallyann G Ulibarri.

A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 6:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 9:00am, also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico with Father Rob Yaksich as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers Jaylyn, and Eddie Garcia. Juanito Sr, and Juanito Jr. Espinoza. Andrew Martinez, Wolffe Herrera, Emilio “Melo” Herrera, and Roman Baca.

Although his time with us was brief, Marquez's impact on our lives will remain forever. He will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten. His memories will live on forever.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever 18.
