Marlene's obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Marlene Forster (nee Kolesar), who died peacefully in her home in her 79th year.

Marlene was the cherished wife of Bob (Robert) Forster and much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother of Bob (Robert) Forster, wife Paula (nee Quinn), their children, Robert Nicholas and Andrew James and their grandson Robert Isaac, along with Katherine Forster and her husband Viliam Glazduri.

Marlene graduated from Butte High School, (Butte, Montana) in 1959 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Montana State University (Missoula, Montana) in 1963 and a Master’s of Science degree in Education from Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana) in 1966.  She worked for the City of Portland, Oregon (63-64), where she met her husband and married in April 1964.

Marlene taught at a high school in Attica, Indiana (66-67) and at Willis College of Business and Technology in Ottawa (68-69) after moving to Canada’s capital. Subsequently, in 1970, Marlene and Bob moved to Manotick, south of Ottawa, into their home of 50 years.  She was a volunteer at the Manotick Library for 40 years and was an avid tennis player, golfer, gardener and a member of the local bridge club (1980 to 2019). She worked with the Kelly Services Agency in the eighties until she and Bob moved to Veazie, Maine in 1988. After a few years enjoying the east coast, they returned to their Manotick home in 1992. With her husband, she supported the Ottawa Little Theatre as season ticket holders for almost 50 years.   She was also a parishioner of St. Leonard's Catholic Church for almost five decades and was a recent member of a Christian meditation group that met weekly in Manotick.

She was preceded by her parents, John and Loretta Kolesar of Butte Montana and her brother Jim Kolesar of Lovell, Wyoming. She is survived by her brothers and sister-in-laws (on the Kolesar side) Larry and Sue (Renton, Washington) and their two children Brittany and Michael, Barry and Carol (Placentia, California) and Bob (Robert) and Ellen (Bozeman, Montana).

A celebration of life will be planned once Covid-19 restrictions are fully lifted.  Finally, we request that in lieu of flowers or donations, please pause and raise a glass to life, love, family, friends, and cherished memories.
