Marlene's obituary
On Good Friday, April 3, 2026, Marlene De Taylor aka Mami, aka Mami Marlene, took her final breath and slipped into the quiet peace she had long been ready for. She left this world the way she lived in it — with resilience, courage, and a heart full of love.
She spent her final days with her loving family, surrounded by the voices of her children and grandchildren, comforted by prayers, poems, and the promise of rest. She spoke often of wanting to be free from pain, and on this sacred day, she was.
She is remembered for her radiant smile, her deep compassion, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Nothing ever came between her and those she loved — she was the mama bear you didn’t want to upset, yet she was also a mother to everyone around her. Friends, coworkers, and caregivers felt her affection in the way she called them “mi niño” or “mi niña.” They remember her warmth, her humor, and the genuine care she showed them. She carried her memories like treasures, and even as illness touched her mind, she never forgot the people she loved.
She leaves behind our father Ivan Taylor, her sister Carolina Trana, her children Lilja Taylor Diaz, Carla Taylor, Sergio Taylor and Maradelyn Taylor Root, her nieces Francis, Nancy and Virgis, her grandchildren, Valeria, Ivan, Daniel, Christopher, Zachary, Joshua, Tony, Mark, Sara, and Christiana, and her great grandchildren Melquiades and Genevieve. She reunites now with those who went before her, including my beloved Tuxy.
Her life will be celebrated in a private gathering, where her family will honor her stories, her strength, and the love she gave so freely.
